The Gettin’ Place of Spokane was founded in 2026 on the belief that every individual deserves a dignified place to belong, contribute, learn and bloom.

Our vision is to create a welcoming, safe, and vital community center for Spokane’s unhoused and underserved neighbors. A community center where individuals can secure a nutritious meal, medical and behavioral health care, social services and meaningful opportunities for personal enrichment and bloom.

Enrichment will be an essential part of our model. Opportunities such as musical and creative arts, leadership and skill development skills, food preparation and kitchen training, community gardening, workshops and other hands-on activities. These enrichment activities will allow our unhoused to discover and rediscover their strengths, build confidence, self-efficacy and contribute to their community.

The Gettin’ Place will provide community services opportunities for individuals who are court ordered to complete service requirements. Through community service, individuals will fulfill their civic responsibilities and legal requirements to create a positive impact on the community. Through community services, individuals will also participate and learn about community safety and increase cleanliness through their civic responsibility.

The Gettin’ Place will also serve as an educational platform and hands on learning experience for future medical and social-service professionals. Medical students, interns and students interested in working with the unhoused population will have opportunities for meaningful, supervised placements that build understanding, challenge stigma, nurtures compassion and builds communication skills in their practical experiences.

Neighborhood groups, professionals, businesses, faith-based communities, volunteers as well as other community members will be welcomed and encouraged to explore opportunities to serve, learn, share their talents and walk alongside our unhoused and underserved neighbors. Through volunteering, the Gettin’ Place is creating an investment in all those that call Spokane home, which is an investment in the health of the community. Through this lens, everyone builds community and blooms.

Focusing on the basic needs of our unhoused community along with the greater impact of giving back through meals, healthcare, social resources, enrichment, education/training – this will create a community of belonging through unconditional positive regard – where no one is defined by their circumstances. Our goal is not simple to help people survive, but they create opportunities for everyone in the community to connect, contribute, lead, thrive and bloom.
