Meet Our Board Members

Peggy Johnson

President

Peg Johnson is a passionate advocate for Spokane’s unhoused and underserved communities, guided by her belief that everyone deserves dignity, compassion, and a sense of belonging. Before retiring in 2014, she spent 20 years as a massage practitioner and business owner in Spokane. Earlier in her career, she served as the office and business manager at a school for children with disabilities, the executive director of a domestic violence and sexual assault organization, and as vice president of finance for a business management consulting company.

Her professional experience and years of hands-on community service reflect a strong commitment to caring for others and supporting people through difficult circumstances. Through her volunteer work with Shalom Ministries’ Dining with Dignity, the Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant, and Soup on the Streets (S.O.S.), which she founded, Peg has helped provide meals, essential supplies, and meaningful connections to people experiencing homelessness and hunger. As a board member of The Gettin’ Place, she is dedicated to creating a welcoming day center that not only meets basic needs but goes beyond offering opportunities for growth, purpose, hope, and a better future.

Tamara Falk, RN

Chief of Fundraising

Tamara joined the board of The Gettin' Place of Spokane wth a clear purpose: ensuring community support is truly accessible. With a nursing career spanning more than 25 years, Tamara understands firsthand that effective care isn't one-size-fits-all, and that people are often best served when resources are available outside of the clinic or office. Her practical insight, advocacy, and dedication to community health help guide the organization's mission.

Our leadership team is deeply rooted in Spokane, united by a shared dedication to restoring dignity and providing vital support systems for our unhoused and underserved neighbors. Together, we work to build a more compassionate and inclusive community for everyone.

Susannah "Suki" Goldman

Chief of Operations

Suki Goldman is a Korean adoptee who sees a community where everyone belongs with the idea of helping one another to create a stronger community.  Suki has worked with other non-profits that serve homeless and disenfranchised individuals.  From these experiences, Suki brings her beliefs to empower those who live on the outskirts and empower their voices versus a punishing intervention.

Suki brings lived experience and has learned how to manage her own addiction and homelessness.  Through her own journey she has gained a deeper understanding of herself, her challenges and obstacles.  She brings an unabated passion to all she does and has a deep understanding of the barriers those in addiction and that are experiencing homelessness face.  Suki utilizes her interpersonal skills to uplift individuals that have been left behind and gives everyone the opportunity to belong, thrive and be heard.

Camtu Thai, MD

Treasurer

Dr. Camtu Thai is a Family Medicine physician who has served the Spokane area for 28 years. As a Street Medicine physician, she provides direct care to our unhoused and underserved neighbors. She is also a medical educator who is passionate about enhancing medical training, ensuring everyone receives the quality care and respect they deserve regardless of their housing status. Dr. Thai is deeply committed to improving community health through dignity-centered care and compassionate service.

Tammy Meyers

Secretary

Tammy Meyers is an alley and advocate for those in our community experiencing homelessness.  Her approach is unconditional positive regard and to walk alongside an individual on their journey.

Tammy’s work centers on empowerment of the individual so they can see they have worth and dignity and not just discarded parts of the community.  Her work is to understand what basic needs and social justice looks like through the eyes of someone experiencing homelessness – individuals are more than the narrative provided.  Tammy genuinely sees each person as a person and works with the individual to build the individuals self-worth, dignity and self-love through community.

Tammy has been working alongside this community’s homeless for 10 years.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and is a SUDPT.  Prior to her work in homelessness, Tammy worked with individuals with developmental disabilities and spent years working at a domestic violence shelter.  Through her work with survivors of domestic violence, she co-created Safe Haven for Pets.  This is a collaboration through Kootenai Humane Society & Safe Passages.  Individuals leaving their abusive situation can also bring their family pets where Kootenai Humane Society will board until the family finds permanent housing.
